What is an Open Gym? Open
Gym is a time for Flatirons coaches to observe
players in an informal setting. Team oriented
games and drills will be run. All players who
are interested in playing for Flatirons
Volleyball Club are encouraged to attend the
2012 Open Gyms. This is an opportunity for you
to see how Flatirons runs as a club and to meet
our coaches. It’s also a good time for our
coaches to get to know you, too.
Wear a T
shirt that sets you apart from the others; no
cut out shirts or inappropriate wordage, please.
Avoid wearing shirts from other clubs. Bring a
secure water bottle, wear knee pads and shorts.
Open Gym is a drop in session; no need
to pre register. You must have proof of current
membership in USA Volleyball ($55) to
participate. The cost is $5 for each Open Gym.
What do Flatirons Coaches look for
in a player? Flatirons Coaches look
for athletic girls who love to play volleyball.
Current skill level is not the most important
factor when searching for Flatirons players.
Most important is a girl with a “can do”
attitude; one who is always making an effort by
hustling, learning, and putting the team first.
How to register for Open Gyms
and tryouts
#1:
Register for Tryouts at
www.signuptoplay.com Click
here for more details.
RMR Membership: You must have a current
membership in RMR Volleyball (Rocky Mountain
Region USA Volleyball) to attend Open Gyms and
Tryouts. All paperwork and memberships must be
complete before you can tryout.
If you
are already an RMR member, renew your membership
now at
www.rmrvolleyball.org. Click on the
“membership” box at the top of the page. Scroll
down to find the “previous member login” box.
Follow the prompts. You will need your user ID
and password. Be sure to select “undecided” as
your club. You will have only one opportunity to
later insert the club you will be playing for;
you’ll do this after Tryouts.
Print your
2011-2012 Membership Card (expiration
date must be 2012) and bring it to all
Open Gyms and Tryouts.
If you are new to
club volleyball and the Rocky Mountain Region,
you need to register for membership with Rocky
Mountain Region USA Volleyball. (Click
here for
more info about club volleyball). Membership
is obtained at
www.rmrvolleyball.org. Click on the
“Membership” box at the top of the page. Scroll
down to the "New Member Login" and complete the
required information. (If you would like
additional information, you can instead click
under the "New" column on the link called
"Junior Regular Membership-RMR Powers, Regional
and National Events").
Your Rocky
Mountain Region USA Volleyball membership ($55)
must be paid for at the time of online
registration. Print the
membership/identification card and bring it to
all Open Gyms and Tryouts.
For help with
technical difficulties, the Rocky Mountain
Region Online Hotline number is (303) 264-9136.
Help is available between the hours of 9:00 am
and 5:00 pm. Do not call the RMR Office.
Tryouts: Before you can attend tryouts, all
paperwork, memberships and fees must be
complete. See above for USA Volleyball
membership information.
Pre-registration
for Tryouts is mandatory on the Sign Up To Play
website:
www.signuptoplay.com
In
addition, the following forms are required at
the tryouts: Click on the links below and
click the "Print" icon, (or "Save" if you want
to save a copy). Then fill out and bring with
you. ___
Flatirons Tryout Form ___
Flatirons Participation Agreement Form
___
RMR Player Medical History Form
___ If you are new to Flatirons: two
copies of state issued proof of age. Examples:
birth certificates, drivers license, passports
etc.
The tryout fee is $45 and it is non
refundable. Write the check to Flatirons
Volleyball Club and bring it to the tryout. A
deposit of $500 is due with your tryout
registration. If you are not offered a spot on a
Flatirons team, your deposit will be destroyed.
The deposit is not refundable after verbal
commitment to a Flatirons team. The deposit
amount will be applied to the total due for
fees.
After an offer is made:
Congratulations! You’ve been offered a spot
on a Flatirons team. Upon your acceptance to
the team, you will receive a contract that must
be notarized and returned at the earliest
possible date. A notary will be available at the
tryout sessions. You have the option of taking a
contract with you and getting it notarized then
mailing it back to Flatirons Volleyball Club. If
you did not get a contract, please email
flatironsvbc@aol.com to request one. A
fee payment schedule will be emailed to you
within the week. This payment schedule will show
the amount due and the date the payments are
due.
Important note: In the event
you cannot commit to the offer made because you
are trying out at another club, inform the Head
Coach and s/he will make every attempt to work
with you. Be advised the coach has the option to
retract the offer and move on to the next
athlete.
